Intervention in the Guggenheim Museum Rotunda. New York, US Apr-Jul 2009.

Doris Salcedo’s proposal for this dream project at the Guggenheim is an homage to the seminal work of Hans Haacke “Shapolsky et al. Manhattan Real Estate Holdings, a Real-Time Social System, as of May 1st, 1971”. Salcedo’s intention is to literally use the buildings that Haacke’s work depicts and incorporate them into the museum’s space. 3D models both of the Guggenheim and Haackes buildings were put together to compose the point of view that was then treated with photographic textures and shadows to give a ‘real’ look to the montage.
